Dedicated to the Restoration of the Authority of the Holy Roman Emperor. Restoration of All Things in Christ begins here. Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if any man shall tell it you.

The Final Impenitence of Marcial Maciel The Founder Of The Legionaries of Christ

Afterwards this peace will be disturbed by the monster. And the monster will arrive at the end of the nineteenth century or at the latest at the commencement of the twentieth. (Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado the founder of the Legionaries of Christ was born March 10, 1920) Secret given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to Maximin Giraud at La Salette, France on September 19, 1846
"I said no! I do not believe in God's pardon." Marcial Maciel The Founder Of The Legionaries of Christ when asked if he wanted to confess his sins on his death bed January 2008
Augustine, however (De Verb. Dom., Serm. lxxi), says that blasphemy or the sin against the Holy Ghost, is final impenitence when, namely, a man perseveres in mortal sin until death, and that it is not confined to utterance by word of mouth, but extends to words in thought and deed, not to one word only, but to many. Now this word, in this sense, is said to be uttered against the Holy Ghost, because it is contrary to the remission of sins, which is the work of the Holy Ghost, Who is the charity both of the Father and of the Son. Nor did Our Lord say this to the Jews, as though they had sinned against the Holy Ghost, since they were not yet guilty of final impenitence, but He warned them, lest by similar utterances they should come to sin against the Holy Ghost: and it is in this sense that we are to understand Mark 3:29-30, where after Our Lord had said: "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost," etc. the Evangelist adds, "because they said: He hath an unclean spirit."

Augustine [Fulgentius] (De Fide ad Petrum iii) says that "those who despair of pardon for their sins, or who without merits presume on God's mercy, sin against the Holy Ghost," and (Enchiridion lxxxiii) that "he who dies in a state of obstinacy is guilty of the sin against the Holy Ghost," and (De Verb. Dom., Serm. lxxi) that "impenitence is a sin against the Holy Ghost," and (De Serm. Dom. in Monte xxii), that "to resist fraternal goodness with the brands of envy is to sin against the Holy Ghost," and in his book De unico Baptismo (De Bap. contra Donat. vi, 35) he says that "a man who spurns the truth, is either envious of his brethren to whom the truth is revealed, or ungrateful to God, by Whose inspiration the Church is taught," and therefore, seemingly, sins against the Holy Ghost.

On the part of sin, there are two things which may withdraw man therefrom: one is the inordinateness and shamefulness of the act, the consideration of which is wont to arouse man to repentance for the sin he has committed, and against this there is "impenitence," not as denoting permanence in sin until death, in which sense it was taken above (for thus it would not be a special sin, but a circumstance of sin), but as denoting the purpose of not repenting. The other thing is the smallness or brevity of the good which is sought in sin, according to Romans 6:21: "What fruit had you therefore then in those things, of which you are now ashamed?" The consideration of this is wont to prevent man's will from being hardened in sin, and this is removed by "obstinacy," whereby man hardens his purpose by clinging to sin. Of these two it is written (Jeremiah 8:6): "There is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done?" as regards the first; and, "They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle," as regards the second. How Fr. Maciel built his empire
Apr. 12, 2010
By Jason Berry
Maciel died in a surreal drama where his life pieces converged with shuddering fall. In late January 2008, he was in a hospital in Miami, according to a Jan. 31, 2010 report by reporters Sota and Vidal of El Mundo. Although the article(available in English on exlcblog.com) is layered in opinion about Maciel's character, it provides a detailed look at the crisis he created for his followers. In the hospital gathered Alvaro Corcuera, Maciel's successor as director general; the Legion's general secretary, Evarista Sada; and numerous other associates. Maciel reportedly refused to make a confession, stirring such concerns that someone summoned an exorcist, though the article does not describe a ritual. The men around Maciel were jarred when two women appeared: Norma the mother, and Normita, 23. At that point, Maciel reportedly said of the Normas: "I want to stay with them."

The El Mundo article continues:

The Legionary priests, alarmed by Maciel's attitude, called Rome. [Fr.] Luis Garza knew right away that this was a grave problem. He consulted with the highest authority, Alvaro Corcuera, and then hopped on the first plane to Miami and went directly to the hospital.

[Garza's] indignation could be read on his face. He faced the once-powerful founder and threatened him: "I will give you two hours to come with us or I will call all the press and the whole world will find out who you really are." And Maciel let his arm be twisted.

After the priests got Maciel to a Legion house in Jacksonville, Fla., he reportedly grew belligerent when Corcuero tried to anoint him, yelling, "I said no!" The article says Maciel refused to make a final confession, and states flatly that he "did not believe in God's pardon."

That is an opinion that Maciel's sordid life might well support, but for which, in fact, we have no proof. In announcing his ascent to heaven, immediately following Maciel's 2008 death, the Legion high command took propaganda to a level beyond category.

18. All warfare is based on deception.

19. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near

20. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him

21. If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him.

Five Reasons Why Paris Is "Dumb Like a Fox"

Today 8:00 AM PDT by Ted Casablanca and Marc Snetiker

Has there ever been anyone who has fallen from grace—and subsequently hoisted her ass back up—more times than Paris Hilton?

Mom Kathy Hilton told us awhile ago that, in a nutshell, daughter Pare-Pare is, "dumb like a fox." And oh, how brilliantly true that description is. After all, mama knows best, right?

Y'see, Paris' recent, er, incident with la coca is just another opportunity for her to show off how slyly she deals with all the, er, incidents in her life:

1. She keeps her friends close, but the media closer.
You might laugh at the gal who sends texts and emails to reporters in the third person ("Sources say that Paris had a great time with her new boyfriend" is something she might send out), but one thing is for sure: Paris knows exactly how to keep reporters at no more than at text-message's length. She notoriously takes journalists out to lunch every friggin' week, and they love her for it. Where's our invite, sugar-stuff?

2. She keeps a contact everywhere she goes.
While Lindsay Lohan runs around Hollywood like a bewigged chicken with its head cut off, Paris isn't usually too messed up to at least establish some kind of connection with someone everywhere she goes. This includes clubs, bars, hotels, entire villages. That way there's someone to protect her, or to run to, at every corner where trouble almost always lurks.

3. The "dumb" thing throws people off.
Paris isn't actually the Simple Life girl we fell in love like with all those years ago. That's not to say that she's a rocket scientist, but for anyone who's met her, they know that there's a level of, let's say, show business that the girl puts on. And again, we'll reiterate that she is not a rocket scientist. But she's also not the "I thought it was gum" girl that you think she is. This will be bad news come court time, unfortunately.

4. She knows the art of reacting.
Paris isn't a one-trick pony who will give the same denial or look dumbfounded when every little road bump hits the little Hilton. While she might act stupid with one arrest, or play the crying game with another, or even give a casual wave-off to a less important tabloid scandal, she's always keeping it somewhat believable. And you know that if Lindsay's reaction to scandal is going to party at Colony, Paris will be sitting at home, "devastated"—and telling absolutely everyone with an iota of media connection about it.

5. She's finally discovered what she's good at.
There was a time when Paris tried to solely emulate her famous entrepreneurial lineage, conquering the entertainment/product-placement business with cameos, biz endeavors galore, guest-hosting gigs, and even attempts to do the musician, reality star or supporting actress thang. A simple leggings/suntan-line girl she is not. But it's been about two years since Hilton mostly stopped the efforts, and we've been more tolerant of her for it. However, she's since focused on her socialite status, and that's the only reason she got to be famous in the first place, isn't it?

We smell the rebirth of Paris in a matter of seconds. OK, maybe months...or years. Don't forget, it's in her blood.

The Romance of Wisdom ~ Brother André Marie

BAGLIONE, Giovanni
Hercules at the Crossroads
1640-42

Hercules in Greek mythology is the personification of physical strength and courage. Hercules at the crossroad (the choice of Hercules) is an allegory which depicts the hero choosing between the figures who personify Virtue and Vice, each of whom invites him to follow her. He chose the former. In this painting Virtue take the form of Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and Hercules' mentor. She wears armour ~ Web Gallery of Art

The Romance of Wisdom

Posted By Brother André Marie On September 2, 2010

That wisdom could be “romantic” would strike many as odd. This is because, generally speaking, neither romance nor wisdom is properly considered. The former is mistaken for lust, while the latter is lost in a sea of empty esotericism, or consigned to simple disregard. Since the theme of our upcoming conference [1]is “The Romance of Wisdom,” I feel bound to explain how these two nouns, seemingly so distant, can possibly be conjoined.
Wisdom will be considered in our next Ad Rem. For now, I will say that wisdom is at least four things for us: a virtue of the speculative intellect, a gift of the Holy Ghost, the study and discipline of sacred doctrine (theology), and, finally, wisdom is a Person. Again, I will come back to these next time; so now I proceed to the other half of our odd couple.

“Romance” is commonly associated with erotic love and its pursuit. As a literary genre, it has been reduced to the smutty novel mass-consumed in cheap pulp editions by idle housewives. But that is not what a romance is at all. Coming from the Latin word for “the Romans,” romance first of all is a group of languages whose common origin is a low Latin that was diversely Germanized, Celtified, Vandalized, Gothified, and otherwise Barbarized by the foreigners who divided the carcass of the Western Roman Empire among themselves. From low Latin emerged the antecedents of today’s “Romance Languages”: Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Romanian, etc. These languages developed their own songs, epic ballads, and verse that related important events of history and passed on the culture of the emerging European nations. By the High Middle Ages, these forms had evolved into a rich and diverse literature that became more cultivated as European civilization moved from the chaotic feudalism of the “Dark Ages” to the more orderly era of organized kingdoms. An important part of the developed literature of the day was the verse or prose narrative called “the romance [2].” 1 [3]

Unlike their precursors, the early heroic songs called chansons de geste [4], romances were not just warrior songs, though, as in the case of The Song of Roland, warcraft often figures prominently in the genre. It is primarily to chivalry [5] that we owe the romance, for these works extolled the virtues of the knight. They often mixed history with folklore and fantasy (magic swords, elves, etc.), giving us tales of struggle and quest where the successes and failures of the characters were meant to edify and instruct, as well as to entertain their readership. And who constituted that readership? The knightly class themselves, for this was an aristocratic literature. True, “courtly love,” was integral to many of these romances — especially the later French ones — but this element is only a part of the larger whole.

Courtly love was an important development in Western man’s conception of the relation between the sexes. It gave us the traditions of “courtesy” that men are still, to some extent, expected to show to ladies. Even the word “courtesy” comes from the “court” of love. Courtly love itself was a byproduct of chivalry, being an integral part of the social life of the aristocrat. No doubt, it is this element, found mainly in French works like The Romance of the Rose, that makes moderns associate the word “romance” with erotic love. But even though courtly love had its own ironic decadence, as a perusal of the lyrics of troubadour [6] songs will prove, it did idealize discipline, manners, and self-control. Besides, if we understand nothing of courtly love, St. Francis of Assisi’s burning devotion to “Lady Poverty” [7] will be lost on us, as will St. Ignatius of Loyola’s all-night vigil before the statue of Our Lady of Montserrat, to whom he gave his sword and armor as a votive offering. (To learn more about “courtly love,”consult Gary Potter’s article, Chivalry and Our Lady [8], and scroll down to the heading, “Eleanor’s ‘Courtly Love’.”)

Romances, then, were tales of combat, quest, adventure, virtue, manliness, bravery, and yes, of love, that exemplified the Code of Chivalry [9]. As they thrilled readers, they also encouraged imitation and therefore upheld the high ideals of the times. It is this ennobling allure, this attraction combined with edification that allows us to speak of “The Romance of Wisdom.”

The idealizing of a life of virtue — the romanticizing of moral perfection — is of great value for the would-be saint. Boys, for instance, need to be challenged with lofty goals, rights of passage, standards applied to them by their masters into whose company they hope to graduate. If it may be said, they need to be passionate about something, as in directing to a high ideal all the energy of their spiritual faculties, the affections of their souls, and even the muscles, bones, and sinews of their bodies. Failing that, they will languish in spiritual mediocrity or moral torpor. Give a boy a cause, impress upon his mind its ideals, direct him to fight for the good, and a man will be formed.

What better cause to give a young man than that of God, of His Mother, and of His Church? No better liege-Lord can be found, no better “Lady” whose honor to uphold, and no better city to defend than these.

Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, the eternal and incarnate Wisdom, is the terminus of all the noble aspirations that constitute true romance.

1.Though they began in the romance languages, romances eventually were written in German and English, too. ↩ [10]

Atheist Terrorist James Lee (Discovery Channel Hostage-Taker) Is An Adherent Of The Atheist Scientist PZ Myers

The Discovery Channel MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to save the planet and to do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. The Discovery Channel and it's affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn's "My Ishmael" pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other's inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!

2. All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.

3. All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Again, solutions solutions instead of just repeating the same old wars with newer weapons. Also, keep out the fraudulent peace movements. They are liars and fakes and had no real intention of ending the wars. ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE! On one hand, they claim they want the wars to end, on the other, they are demanding the human population increase. World War II had 2 Billion humans and after that war, the people decided that tripling the population would assure peace. WTF??? STUPIDITY! MORE HUMANS EQUALS MORE WAR!

4. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! This is your obligation. If you think it isn't, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil! It is the moral obligation of everyone living otherwise what good are they??

5. Immigration: Programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that. Find solutions to stopping it. Call for people in the world to develop solutions to stop it completely and permanently. Find solutions FOR these countries so they stop sending their breeding populations to the US and the world to seek jobs and therefore breed more unwanted pollution babies. FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THEM TO STOP THEIR HUMAN GROWTH AND THE EXPORTATION OF THAT DISGUSTING FILTH! (The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!)

6. Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don't build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!

7. Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people's brains until they get it!!

8. Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! You're the media, you can reach enough people. It's your resposibility because you reach so many minds!!!

9. Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy. Find solutions for their disasterous Ponzi-Casino economy before they take the world to another nuclear war.

10. Stop all shows glorifying human birthing on all your channels and on TLC. Stop Future Weapons shows or replace the dialogue condemning the people behind these developments so that the shows become exposes rather than advertisements of Arms sales and development!

11. You're also going to find solutions for unemployment and housing. All these unemployed people makes me think the US is headed toward more war.

Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what's left of the planet with their false morals and breeding culture.

For every human born, ACRES of wildlife forests must be turned into farmland in order to feed that new addition over the course of 60 to 100 YEARS of that new human's lifespan! THIS IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FOREST CREATURES!!!! All human procreation and farming must cease!

It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices. Children represent FUTURE catastrophic pollution whereas their parents are current pollution. NO MORE BABIES! Population growth is a real crisis. Even one child born in the US will use 30 to a thousand times more resources than a Third World child. It's like a couple are having 30 babies even though it's just one! If the US goes in this direction maybe other countries will too!

Also, war must be halted. Not because it's morally wrong, but because of the catastrophic environmental damage modern weapons cause to other creatures. FIND SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS! Humans are supposed to be inventive. INVENT, DAMN YOU!!

The world needs TV shows that DEVELOP solutions to the problems that humans are causing, not stupify the people into destroying the world. Not encouraging them to breed more environmentally harmful humans.

Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.

The humans? The planet does not need humans.

You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!

I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it.

These are the demands and sayings of Lee.

Prayer Against The Enemies Of The Restoration Of The Divinely Ordained Authority Of The Holy Roman Emperor ~ September 2010

Eternal Father I Offer Thee The Cross Of Our Lord Jesus Christ And All The Instruments Of His Passion

That Thou Mayest Put Division In The Camp Of Thine Enemies

As Thy Beloved Son Has Said A Kingdom Divided Against Itself Shall Fail

Arise, O Lord, and let Thine enemies be scattered. Let them that hate Thee flee from before they face

Arise, O Lord, and let Thine enemies be scattered. Let them that hate Thee flee from before they face

Arise, O Lord, and let Thine enemies be scattered. Let them that hate Thee flee from before they face

Prayer To The Blessed Trinity For The Restoration Of The Divinely Ordained Authority Of The Holy Roman Emperor ~ September 2010

In honor of Dante Alighieri

Have mercy upon us, O God of all, and behold us, and show us the light of thy mercies: And send thy fear upon the nations, that have not sought after thee: that they may know that there is no God beside thee, and that they may show forth thy wonders. Lift up thy hand over the strange nations, that they may see thy power. For as thou hast been sanctified in us in their sight, so thou shalt be magnified among them in our presence, That they may know thee, as we also have known thee, that there is no God beside thee, O Lord.

Renew thy signs, and work new miracles. Glorify thy hand, and thy right arm. Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath. Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy. Hasten the time, and remember the end, that they may declare thy wonderful works.

Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire: and let them perish that oppress thy people. Crush the head of the princes of the enemies that say: There is no other beside us. Gather together all the tribes of Jacob: that they may know that there is no God besides thee, and may declare thy great works: and thou shalt inherit them as from the beginning. Have mercy on thy people, upon whom thy name is invoked: and upon Israel, whom thou hast raised up to be thy firstborn. Have mercy on Jerusalem, the city which thou hast sanctified, the city of thy rest.

Fill Sion with thy unspeakable words, and thy people with thy glory. Give testimony to them that are thy creatures from the beginning, and raise up the prophecies which the former prophets spoke in thy name. Reward them that patiently wait for thee, that thy prophets may be found faithful: and hear the prayers of thy servants, According to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, and direct us into the way of justice, and let all know that dwell upon the earth, that thou art God the beholder of all ages. Fr Marcial Maciel The Clown - El Payaso ~ Fr Jack Stegnicki

One of the recurring themes in Fr Marcial Maciel's talks and letters was authenticity, being sincere, not putting on masks. Hypocrisy, he would say, being one thing on the outside and another on the inside, could cause mental disorders. He said that no one can hide forever, that internal strife and division will eventually manifest itself externally. Some people develop nervous ticks, others breakdown altogether.

I remember being in a conference with Fr Marciel in Rome. This theme came up. He said someone had played a song for him that he enjoyed, and he wanted to play it for us. It was called “Payaso” (the clown) by Javier Solis. Let me just transcribe the verse for you and then I’ll make my point.

“Payaso, soy un triste payaso
que oculto mi fracaso
con risas y alegrías
que me llenan de espanto

“Payaso, soy un triste payaso
que en medio de la noche
me pierdo en la penumbra
con mi risa y mi llanto”

A Clown, I’m a sad clown
who hides his failure
with laughter and happiness
that surprise even me.

A Clown, I’m a sad clown
who in the middle of the night
I lose myself in the darkness
with my laughing and weeping
(This is my poor translation. If anyone has a better one, pass it on.)

Now I really wonder if Fr Maciel was sending up a smoke signal, like the criminal who wants to get caught. After a number of years the crime is not enough: he starts leaving a paper trail, and that makes it more thrilling. He doesn’t really want to get caught, but the sense of having someone hot on your tail is invigorating.

I am in no way trying to cover for him: I find his way of life appalling, if not horrifying. But I wonder how he kept it up for so long without cracking.

There was a time I think he cracked. It was in the mid-nineties. He had come back from a trip (we never knew where he travelled to). He had strange red blemishes on his cheeks, not abrasions, but more like hemorrhages. He said he had gone through a crisis, he had asked himself if it was worth living amid so much suffering and persecution.

My first impression was that he was hiding something. I admit I always had my suspicions. It was no secret that Fr Maciel would travel alone at times and take sums of money with him. We were told it was for his many acts of charity, a virtue he learned from his mother. The first time I heard this, it didn’t sit well with me. But then again, when you saw him and listened to him, how could this man be doing something wrong?

I guess I’m saying we all wear masks from time to time. I let mine fall not too long ago. For this I have been somewhat of an outcast in the ranks of the legion. I try to be as sincere as possible when I’m dealing with people and in my homilies, and that has made all the difference.

A Public Letter To Dr. Janet Smith ~ Steve Kellmeyer

The Fifth Column: A Public Letter to Janet Smith:

Dr. Smith,

Mark Shea, Carl Olsen, Dr. Ed Peters, and others have felt that I have treated you scurrilously on my blog.

So, in the interests of fair play, let me explain precisely where the problems lie.

1) For over a year now,
you have defended or allowed to stand your defense of Chris West’s erroneous understanding that anal sex foreplay is morally permissible. You have publicly and privately held that such foreplay is permitted by the moral manuals. However, neither you nor other Chris West defenders nor Chris West himself have produced any evidence of this assertion – the best anyone has been able to do is provide a discussion of oral sex foreplay from a single manual published in the 1950s, and pretend that this discussion extends to anal sex foreplay. It doesn’t, as that same manual attests.

So, now that you’ve had a year to find it, you must produce the documentation you obviously have in hand from Catholic moral manuals produced prior to Vatican II directly on point concerning anal sex being permissible as foreplay by September 11, 2010 or publicly withdraw your support for this position and apologize for having held it.

Furthermore, you must publicly ask Chris West to produce his documentation within a deadline chosen by you, or you must publicly withdraw your support of Chris West’s teachings on this point. If you would like to ask him or his minions for a private or public apology for having deliberately misled you, that is certainly understandable.

For my part, if you produce the documentation, I will publicly apologize for having ever doubted you

2) For over a year now, you have publicly and privately supported Chris West in his erroneous position that the Easter Candle is really a phallic symbol. You have claimed that this interpretation is supported in the typology of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church.

So, you must produce the documentation you obviously have in hand from the Fathers and Doctors of the Church; direct quotes, with the sources cited, demonstrating what you say is true, by September 11, 2010 or publicly withdraw your support for this position and publicly apologize for having held it.

Furthermore, you must publicly ask Chris West to produce his documentation within a deadline chosen by you, or you must publicly withdraw your support of Chris West’s teachings on this point. If you would like to ask him or his minions for a private or public apology for having deliberately misled you, that is certainly understandable.

For my part, if you produce the documentation, I will publicly apologize for having ever doubted you.

3) You must publicly ask Chris West to attest and affirm that continence is a virtue, as Pope John Paul II, Thomas Aquinas and the Magisterium of the Church have already affirmed.

If he refuses to do so, you must publicly withdraw your support of Chris West’s teachings on this point.

4) According to Chris West’s own words, "If you could not be alone together the day before you got married and not sin, there is no magic trick, there is no waving at the wand at the altar, that suddenly makes your sexual behavior beautiful, true, good, lovely, and pure.” You must publicly ask Chris West to explain exactly when the sacrament of marriage is conferred.

If he says anything other than “the sacrament of marriage, together with its sanctifying graces, are conferred upon the couple when they publicly exchange marriage vows before a deacon, priest, bishop or appropriate delegate in the manner and with the intention required by the Church”, you must publicly repudiate his teachings and publicly call upon his bishops to correct his teaching.

5) You must also publicly state, and call upon Chris West to publicly state, that the sacrament of marriage has three purposes, one of which is a remedy for concupiscence, that the Church does not expect those who enter into marriage to have conquered concupiscence and that we are not to expect those who enter into marriage to have done so. Further, you must publicly call upon West to make these points in future teachings.

6) You have publicly taught people by saying, “God is a pathological stalker.” You must withdraw this statement and make an equally public apology for having made this scandalous assertion.

Dr. Smith, for years you were a lion defending the Catholic teaching on contraception. All I’m asking is that you show the same attitude of fervor and respect towards Her other teachings.

If you do these things, I will treat you with the deference and respect I accord all true teachers of the Catholic Faith.

If you cannot do these things, then I’m afraid I can’t show you any more deference than I showed Nancy Pelosi when she continuously mis-quoted and mis-applied Aquinas and the Fathers.

After all, if you can’t document what you say, you and Chris West are making precisely the same error Pelosi made, and for precisely Pelosi’s own reason: you have your own agenda, and it is not the agenda of the Church.

The Power Imposed Upon The Legionaries Of Christ By The Monster Fr. Marcial Maciel Still Remains In Force Today ~ Letter Of Fr. Peter F. Byrne, L.C.

GOYA Y LUCIENTES, Francisco de
Out hunting for teeth!
1797-98

Afterwards this peace will be disturbed by the monster. And the monster will arrive at the end of the nineteenth century or at the latest at the commencement of the twentieth. (Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado the founder of the Legionaries of Christ was born March 10, 1920) Secret given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to Maximin Giraud at La Salette, France on September 19, 1846

Mexico, July 27, 2010

Most esteemed in Christ, dear Father Álvaro,

I address myself to you again with sorrow and shame. The sorrow is increased by the knowledge that sending you this letter will again be a useless effort, as have been other letters and other suggestions to you and to other superiors. But [my] silence would not be a good choice, because it would make me an accomplice of the one who abused and plundered the lives of our brothers.

In these days, I have had the honor of visiting some houses of the Legionaries (and of being received with great charity). I have witnessed with my own eyes that in most of them there are still photos of the village of Cotija, of the house in Cotija, and, incredibly, in three places (San Salvador, Cancún, and Canada) there are photos of Fr. Maciel surrounded by the first followers or by the first groups of Legionaries.

How is this possible, Fr. Álvaro? What message are we sending to Fr. Maciel's victims? Is this the way to accept the [Vatican] statement of May 1, 2010? Fr. Álvaro, for the love of God and for the honor of those who suffered the horror of abuse, the agony of disdain and disregard, I beg you to order the removal of the photos of the author of the abuse from the home in which he was born, from the village in which he was raised, and from the institution in which those acts were committed, wounding the innocent and casting so much discredit upon the holy Church.

I likewise beg you to order that all of the spiritual retreats in Cotija take on a tone of reparation, that Fr. Maciel's body be moved from the central altar to one of the crypts to the side in which other Legionaries are buried (so that only Christ may be at the center).

I propose that the home of the deceased be turned into a home of reparation and perpetual adoration, and that the museum be turned into a museum to commemorate his victims and guarantee that they never be forgotten.

Finally, I propose that the house in the mountains (CCI) be given to the diocese to be used as a seminary or retreat house, or even as a place of rehabilitation for priests in the grip of alcohol or other vices.

In this way, we will make a gesture of reparation to the Church of Mexico, so discredited on our account.

I have also noticed that in Mexico, meetings are still being held among the leaders with the infamous lists that divide persons and families into triple-A, double-A, etcetera, and show the names of the priests charged with "grooming" these families and then tapping into their money.

Fr. Álvaro, this is an immoral practice that violates the principle according to which persons must never be used as means to an end. How can a priest approach a family with such a worldly intention? How can a priest use the sacraments, friendship, or spiritual direction with a secondary purpose?

This is a methodology that was institutionalized by the deceased founder, who lived a life without scruples. How can we reform the constitutions, when we are not even capable of abandoning practices that are so blatantly immoral? How will we identify a charism when we cannot identify real and proper injustices?

How can we have a culture of transparency and honesty when we continue to keep lists of persons divided into categories, and deal with them for financial reasons?

How can we convince people of our upright intentions when we are negotiating with them? How will people feel when they find out they are on these horrible lists?

In reality, Father, I don't expect any action [from you]. Nothing has changed among us during the whole period of crisis. All of the changes have come from the outside (the visitors, the Vatican, the pressure of the media or of the episcopal conferences).

Everything is moving forward as before – including the disgraceful photos of the abuser on the walls of the houses – to remind us that the structures of power imposed by Fr. Maciel still remain in force today. We continue to be Fr. Maciel's victims, because we have neither father nor pastor to pull us out of the swamp into which we have sunk.

Most affectionately in Christ,

Fr. Peter F. Byrne, L.C.

Image Of Our Crucified Lord Will Scatter All Of God's Enemies ~ Saint Francis of Paola

TINTORETTO
Crucifixion
c. 1560

The time is coming when his Divine Majesty will visit the world with a new religious order of Holy Cross-bearers, who will carry a crucifix, or the image of Our crucified Lord, lifted up upon the principal standard in view of all. This standard will be admired by all catholics: but at the beginning it will be derided by bad Christians and by infidels. Their sneers shall, however be changed into mourning when they shall witness the wonderful victories achieved through it against tyrants, heretics, and infidels. Many wicked men and obstinate rebels against God shall perish: their souls will be plunged into hell. This punishment shall fall upon all those transgressors of the Divine commandments who with new and false doctrines will attempt to corrupt mankind and turn men against the ministers of God's worship. Saint Francis of Paola

Below are vile words from obstinate rebels against God all taken from PZ Myers' science blog dedicated to mocking the Blessed Trinity, these comments are directed against Our Crucified Lord, against the Catholic faith, against the Pope & against Catholics, these comments are very vile. This is the begining. This how it starts. Pay attention!

O you possessed of sturdy intellects,
observe the teaching that is hidden here
beneath the veil of verses so obscure.
And now, across the turbid waves, there passed
a reboantic fracas-horrid sound,
enough to make both of the shorelines quake:
a sound not other than a wind's when, wild
because it must contend with warmer currents,
it strikes against the forest without let,
shattering, beating down, bearing off branches,
as it moves proudly, clouds of dust before it,
and puts to flight both animals and shepherds.
He freed my eyes and said: "Now let your optic
nerve turn directly toward that ancient foam,
there where the mist is thickest and most acrid."
As frogs confronted by their enemy,
the snake, will scatter underwater till
each hunches in a heap along the bottom,
so did the thousand ruined souls I saw
take flight before a figure crossing Styx
who walked as if on land and with dry soles.
He thrust away the thick air from his face,
waving his left hand frequently before him;
that seemed the only task that wearied him.
I knew well he was Heaven's messenger,
and I turned toward my master; and he made
a sign that I be still and bow before him.
How full of high disdain he seemed to me!
He came up to the gate, and with a wand,
he opened it, for there was no resistance.
"O you cast out of Heaven, hated crowd,"
were his first words upon that horrid threshold,
"why do you harbor this presumptuousness?
Why are you so reluctant to endure
that Will whose aim can never be cut short,
and which so often added to your hurts?
What good is it to thrust against the fates?
Your Cerberus, if you remember well,
for that, had both his throat and chin stripped clean."
At that he turned and took the filthy road,
and did not speak to us, but had the look
of one who is obsessed by other cares
than those that press and gnaw at those before him;
and we moved forward, on into the city,
in safety, having heard his holy words.
We made our way inside without a struggle;
Inferno
IX

Now for the sneers from hell:

Let's not talk about killing the pope. I'd rather his influence was lost and he spent the rest of his life getting laughed at.

Jesus is a lie, the Pope is a rape enabler and God doesn't exist

I have to agree about the killing (retribution is the Catholic way, not mine), but I would like to see him locked up as the danger to society that he is. Kill the pope? No. Arrest the pope and try and (if proven guilty) punish him in the same way we would any other criminal...I can laugh at him as an old man in a funny dress, but as a criminal, lets not make him immune from punishment because he is the Earthly representative of the World's most popular imaginary friend!

No, you sound like a delusional fool for believing in imaginary deities and mythical holy books. And for thinking any book, such as the unholy babble, that promotes slavery, sexual slavery, genocide, incest, et al., is a book of morals. And for believing that any intstitution based on those lies is moral.

Whether one delusional fool or two. Still delusional fools who can't prove their imaginary deity exists with solid and conclusive physical evidence, or that babble isn't a book of mythology fiction, and that the theology based on a book of mythology isn't total and untter crap.

Where in that do you get evil thoughts and words?

Roman Catholic Traditionalists Who Blatantly Ignore The Words Of Our Lord

TINTORETTO
Creation of the Animals
1551-52

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

GOSPEL Matt. 6:24-33

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: "No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. "Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they? And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature one cubit? "And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these. And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith? "Be not solicitous therefore, saying: What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you."

The above Gospel reading for the fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost was heard by every Roman Catholic that attended Latin Mass this morning. So how is it that the majority of Latin Mass attending Roman Catholics live their lives contrary to the above words of Our Lord who said:
Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Instead, on this very Sunday there are Roman Catholic Traditionalists posting on Angelqueen of their plan of action for the coming doom that is supposed to be upon us all (so they would have you believe). Worrying themselves on how they are going to survive their impending doom, they tell others how one should prepare to survive the next disaster. The following is an example of the siege mentality at work in the mind of a Roman Catholic Traditionalist, Simple Man posted: Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:54 pm:
In the coming economic collapse, the thin veneer of civility will break down altogether.

We will see the results of original sin unleashed without restraint.

You sheeple had better get prepared.

By all means, pray your Rosary.

But also take practical steps to protect yours: Ora et labora.

The unprepared (which is most of you) will try to take from the prepared.

The Amish heretics prepare...

The Jehovah Witness heretics prepare....

The Mormon heretics prepare....

But Catholics......still need to wake up.

Forget about contributing to your 401k or IRA: The government will steal that before you can ever draw a penny from it (Presuming there is still a functioning economy 30 years from now).

Take that same money and invest it in hard assets: Raw land; guns; silver bullion; dry bulk food stored in 5 gallon pails and mylar lined bags; water purifiers; bug-out cabins; etc.

If you feel you must play the market, invest in argrcultural commodities, or in companies that produce agricultural commodities.

My guess is that we have about 1-3 years left before sovereign default, hyperinflation, and the destruction of the US Dollar.

When that happens, the world will jump back 120 years, and we will all need to know how to live in it.............

In the meantime, check out this sweet website: A company that specializes in clandestine shelter construction (i.e., So your neighbors don't know you have the shelter), or, they can build you a fortress out in the open that nobody will be able to breech...
Yeah, the Amish, Jehovah Witness, & Mormon heretics prepare because as Our Lord had said against those heretics that no man can serve two masters, so the heretics chose to serve mammon instead of Christ and have become too solicitous for their own life because they are of little or no faith. So to have a Traditionalist tell Roman Catholics to wake up and follow in the footsteps of those who serve mammon is sheer folly. All this advice is given under the guise of preparing for some looked for societal collapse. Now to back up the folly of overly anxious preparedness, one poster compared those traditionalists who prepare themselves for the coming break down of society, to Noe. Read this post by: cantatedomino on Sun Aug 29, 2010 7:27 am
And I'm now thinking about the Flood and the Martyrs of the early Church; and I'm thinking about seed.

God sent word to Noe to prepare for the coming deluge. And by his preparation Noe was able to preserve God's seed - the seed of all beasts and creeping things, and the human seed of the Promise. In the case of Noe, the counsel to prepare was both spiritual and temporal
Problem with this comparison to Noe is that God spoke to Noe! Now I know for certain that God did not speak to any traditionalist commanding him to build a bomb shellter, to store food & to stockpile weapons for the coming economic chastisement. God does not command such things. Unless of course some trad really believes he is talking to God on how to prepare for the coming chastisement & this trad is just keeping mum about his visions of God out of prudence. But i doubt it cause a trad would lose all credibility if he were to start a sentence with "God told me..." So these trads want you to believe that the world is going to blow up & you need to follow in the footsteps of heretics in order for you to save your hide. I would said that this advice is contrary to today's Gospel reading.

Bishop Williamson Eleison Comments & His Vision Of The Impending Economic Collapse That Has Yet To Materialize

ALTDORFER, Albrecht
Christ on the Cross
c. 1520

The eagle that had left its plumes within
the chariot, which then became a monster
and then a prey, will not forever be
without an heir; for I can plainly see,
and thus I tell it: stars already close
at hand, which can't be blocked or checked, will bring
a time in which, dispatched by God, a Five
Hundred and Ten and Five will slay the whore
together with that giant who sins with her.
And what I tell, as dark as Sphinx and Themis,
may leave you less convinced because-like these-
it tires the intellect with quandaries;
but soon events themselves will be the Naiads
that clarify this obstinate enigma-
but without injury to grain or herds.
Take note; and even as I speak these words,
do you transmit them in your turn to those
who live the life that is a race to death.
Purgatorio xxxiii

The above is Dante's vision of a time when the meaning of his prophetic vision becomes clear to those whom he writes about. The above lines pertain to our time today. Everything has gone to hell because there is no one occupying the seat of authority that is the Divinely Ordained Authority of the Holy Roman Emperor. The UN & EU etc have usurped this seat of authority, the chariot has become a monster and then a prey. Dante has promised that this seat of authority will not be without a true heir because stars already close at hand and this event cannot forever be blocked or checked by men because there will be a time in which, dispatched by God, a Five Hundred and Ten and Five will slay the whore together with that giant who sins with her. This time promised by Dante is upon us now in 2010.

And as proof of the truth of this dxv515 interpretation, Dante has given us a sign to look for, and this sign is found within theses lines:
And what I tell, as dark as Sphinx and Themis,
may leave you less convinced because-like these-
it tires the intellect with quandaries;
but soon events themselves will be the Naiads
that clarify this obstinate enigma-
but without injury to grain or herds.
Dante's dxv515 vision should be clear to some in this day and age, I am sure that I am not the only one who sees this, but just in case, to help others recognize the truth of the dxv515 prophecy, Dante tells us that when his enigma of the dxv515 is solved there will be no economic collapse. The dxv515 is upon us and there will be no economic collapse. This is how you will know what to pay attention to, this is the sign looked for and expected to help men see that they should take up the cause to help restore the Divinely Ordained Authority of the Holy Roman Emperor.

Now for the vision contrary to Dante's, we see Bishop Williamson who is expecting a worldwide economic collapse. Bishop Williamson admits that his vision took place in 2008, it is now 2010 and the world economic system did not collapse. Bishop Williamson had two years to get it right and he has failed to do so. Bishop Williamson lives and breathes right now, and he can not see what is in front of him, Dante lived 700 years ago and his vision is right on target. Which vision is from God? Do we witness an economics collapse as many traditionalist lead by Bishop Williamson believe, or do we witness the vision of Dante calling for the restoration of the Divinely Ordained Authority of the Holy Roman Emperor without injury to grain or herds? Chose your vision, economic collapse or economic stability. So here is the complete article written by Bishop Williamson, but before the article I would like you to read from someone with the fearful mentality found in so many traditionalists today, it is from a traditionalist that posted his comment on Angelqueen it is clear he has his hopes pinned on the impending economic chastisement, and as you read his post, think to yourself why is this fearful attitude so prevalent in trad circles:

Posted by Simple Man: Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:54 pm

ELEISON COMMENTS CLXIII (Aug. 28, 2010) : RAMPANT UNREALITY

On a private visit two weeks ago to the USA, my first since 2008, I was able to enter and leave the country with no personal problems, but on a two-hour tour which a friend gave me of a major American city, devastated by the recent economic downturn, I observed some daunting social problems:--

As we drove towards the city past a handsome housing estate in the country, he said, "You see all these expensive-looking houses ? They are in fact poorly built, cookie-cutter houses, way over-priced, bought with money out of nowhere from the Clinton era (1992-2000), by people living in a dream, from paycheck to paycheck, in a false paradise of high credit, materialism and excessive spending. If they lose their jobs, as many are doing, they will be lucky to get half their money back on their houses. The men have no real skill or trade. Theirs is a world of slick tongue nonsense...

"They are mostly white people who have fled from the inner city suburbs where we are now arriving. Look around you at all the houses boarded up, abandoned, dilapidated, with huge gaps in between where the housing has been destroyed to give the illusion of prosperity. But the lost jobs will not come back, so there is no real basis for a return to prosperity. The neat houses you do see have been repaired or re-built with Government money borrowed by the broke city in accordance with unreal housing projects, because the neat houses will not usually be cared for, but will soon be dilapidated again. There is a kind of Government aid which can do more harm than good to the people it is supposed to help, by trapping them in their dependence on it...

"Now we are coming into the downtown where you see tall handsome buildings, but also few people circulating. The buildings go back to the 1920's when this city was a great industrial centre, but after World War II the USA began to lose its industrial pre-eminence. Around the Reagan years (1980-1988) began, as I see it, a false stimulus by the credit card being made available to the common man. In the 1990's a non-white mayor was elected here who did his serious best to bring business back to the city, and some of these handsome buildings are due to him, but he was voted out by his own people because he was not like one of them...

"The economy is hanging on a thread, yet most people think everything will be fine in a year's time. They think it is lovely if the Government just prints or digitalizes more and more money. Five per cent of the people, or less, understand just how grave the situation is, and less than one per cent see religion as playing any part in their country's downfall. People look only for band-aids, not for deep or real solutions. The whites have allowed themselves to be given a huge guilt complex, and they have caved in without admitting it. There is a huge problem that everybody senses and knows, but they are too afraid to talk about it..."

Yet within 50 miles of this city thrives an SSPX parish and school, unknown or disdained, yet embodying the one true solution: God. Kyrie eleison

He Who Strikes The Pope Dies! Part II Of The Folly Of PZ Myers

Qui mange du Pape en meurt

Whoever Strikes At The Pope Dies. This Is Truth And History Proves It. Pius XI

Less than a week! PZ Myers is out of the hospital, resting at home attacking the Pope! I thought for sure that I might get some nasty comments from the Godless twits on my previous post of Tuesday, August 24, 2010 He Who Strikes The Pope Dies! No Godless twit made any comment. Apparently any scientist that wish to follow PZ Myers must give up their belief in the Blessed Trinity, reject all moral standards, and immerse themselves in the cesspool of perversion. With scum like this it is difficult engage in any debate without it taking a turn for the worse with very vile comments on their part. So considering the deranged mental state of these Godless twits I can understand why they would not venture onto my bog a second time...too many beautiful paintings of Our Lord, Our Lady, the Angels and Saints, it must make their skin crawl! I was hoping for some nasty comments such as: "Look PZ Myers is out of the hospital, PZ Myers wasn't struck dead as you said, so much for your all powerful God" etc. I wanted some comments along these lines from the Godless twits so I could remind the Godless twits on the height of folly that PZ Myers has reached, and his impending doom, I would then quote Lady Wisdom :
Because I called, and you refused: I stretched out my hand, and there was none that regarded. You have despised all my counsel, and have neglected my reprehensions. I also will laugh in your destruction, and will mock when that shall come to you which you feared. When sudden calamity shall fall on you, and destruction, as a tempest, shall be at hand: when tribulation and distress shall come upon you: Then shall they call upon me, and I will not hear: they shall rise in the morning and shall not find me: Because they have hated instruction and received not the fear of the Lord, Nor consented to my counsel, but despised all my reproof.
But no comment was posted by any of the defenders of the fool PZ Myers. I was waiting for their folly to become more pronounced by their increased attacks on Pope Benedict XVI, but it did not materialize until the leader of the Godless twits himself carried the standard with his new post on his blog attacking the Pope. What a fool you are PZ Myers! Do you really think that you will escape a sudden and unexpected death? Your attacks against the Pope will increase now, you will not be able to stop yourself. You are a fool and deserve nothing but my curses! So I will continue to post the demise of PZ Myers on this blog, BTW PZ Myers will think that he is getting away with murder because nothing will apparently go wrong for him, everything may go his way as he planed, that's were he should be concerned, but he is such a fool to recognize his own downfall that this will make for good blogging to post his downfall here. ha ha ha ha I also will laugh in your destruction

Saintly Advice Of St. Louis IX King Of France Compared And Contrasted To The Evil Habits Of Father Marcial Maciel Degollado

GIORDANO, Luca
Expulsion of the Moneychangers from the Temple
c. 1675

'Afterwards this peace will be disturbed by the monster. And the monster will arrive at the end of the nineteenth century or at the latest at the commencement of the twentieth.' Secret given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to Maximin Giraud at La Salette, France in September of 1846

34. Dear son, take care that the expenses of your household are reasonable and moderate, and that its moneys are justly obtained. And there is one opinion that I deeply wish you to entertain, that is to say, that you keep yourself free from foolish expenses and evil exactions, and that your money should be well expended and well acquired. And this opinion, together with other opinions which are suitable and profitable, I pray that our Lord may teach you. St. Louis IX King Of France ~ His Letter Of Advice To His Eldest Son

Now for the money habits of The Monster Father Marcial Maciel Degollado:

Legion of crisis

Former insiders have offered troubling accounts of Maciel’s approach to financial matters.

Rev Stephen Fichter, a New Jersey priest, was a member of the order for 14 years, ascending the ranks to become chief financial officer.

He told the New York Times last year that, each time Maciel departed on a trip, ‘‘I always had to give him $10,000 in cash - $5,000 in American dollars and $5,000 in the currency of wherever he was going’’.

Fichter found this behaviour especially incongruous, he told the newspaper, because ‘‘as legionaries, we were taught a very strict poverty.

If I went out of town and bought a Bic pen and a chocolate bar, I would have to turn in the receipts.

And yet for Fr Maciel, there was never any accounting. It was always cash, never any paper trail."

(Fichter, reached by telephone by this newspaper, declined to comment further, stating that he could not see any purpose in adding to what he had already said publicly about the Legion.)

The question of how the Legion’s money was used has intrigued several investigative journalists.

Berry has reported that, in the mid-1990s, a person newly promoted in the Vatican hierarchy was allegedly given ‘‘an envelope thick with cash’’ by a Legion of Christ priest under the direction of Maciel.

‘‘When you lay on money like that, it buys support," Berry told this newspaper, referring to the general practice, rather than this specific incident. ‘‘Maciel spent his whole life ingratiating himself with the Vatican."

If money helped Maciel to buy influence outside the order, the ethos he himself had created helped to keep awkward questions at bay within its ranks.

Maciel's modus operandi

Maciel traveled incessantly, drawing funds from Legion centers in Mexico, Rome and the United States. Certain ex-Legionaries with knowledge of the order's finances believe that Maciel constantly drew from Legion coffers to subsidize his families.

For years Maciel had Legion priests dole out envelopes with cash and donate gifts to officials in the curia. In the days leading up to Christmas, Legion seminarians spent hours packaging the baskets with expensive bottles of wine, rare brandy, and cured Spanish hams that alone cost upward of $1,000 each. Priests involved in the gifts and larger cash exchanges say that in hindsight they view Maciel's strategy as akin to an insurance policy, to protect himself should he be exposed and to position the Legion as an elite presence in the workings of the Vatican.

Fichter, the former Legion member, is today pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Haworth, N.J. He has been a diocesan priest for a decade, and serves in the Newark archdiocese. He coordinated the Legion's administrative office in Rome from February 1998 until October 2000.

"When Fr. Maciel would leave Rome it was my duty to supply him with $10,000 in cash -- $5,000 in American dollars, and the other half in the currency of the country to which he was traveling," explained Fichter. "I would be informed by one of his assistants that he was leaving and I would have to prepare the funds for him. I never questioned that he was not using it for good and noble purposes. It was a routine part of my job. He was so totally above reproach that I felt honored to have that role. He did not submit any receipts and I would have not dared to ask him for a receipt."

Fichter was reluctant to be interviewed, expressing concern that his views be fully reflected. "As Legionaries our norms concerning the use of money were very restricted," he began. "If I went on an outing I was given $20 and if I had a pizza I'd return the $15 to my superior with a receipt. The sad thing is that we were so naive. We were scrupulously trying to live our vow of poverty and yet never questioned [Maciel's] own fidelity to the same.

"So many of my old classmates are still in the Legion and I feel that they are going through such a hard time right now. I don't want to have my words misconstrued. ... Maciel hoodwinked everyone. In hindsight I regret that I and so many others were so gullible. Thankfully, for me that was many years ago."

Since earning his doctorate in sociology from Rutgers University, Fichter has worked as a research associate for the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University in Washington.

"I am very happy as a pastor and in the research work I am doing for the good of the church. At this stage of my life, having collaborated with the Vatican investigation of the Legion, I pray each day for those who are still Legionaries. If I can help them in any way I will."

St. Louis IX King Of France ~ His Letter Of Advice To His Eldest Son

Louis IX, King of France, lost his father at the age of twelve years. He was brought up under the godly care of his mother, Blanche of Castile. In the twentieth year of his reign, he fell grievously sick, and the thought then occurred to him of delivering Jerusalem out of the hands of the Moslems. On his health being restored, he received a banner from the Bishop of Paris, and crossed the sea with a very great army. In his first battle he put the Saracens to flight, but, a great number of the soldiers perishing by disease, he was himself defeated and taken prisoner.

The King afterwards entered into treaty with the Saracens, and he and his army departed in peace. He remained five years in the East, during which he redeemed great numbers of Christians from slavery among the unbelievers, and also brought many of the infidels themselves to believe in Christ. Moreover he rebuilt several cities of the Christians at his own cost. Meanwhile, his mother departed this life, whereby he was constrained to return home, where he gave himself up entirely to works of godliness.

He built many monasteries, and charitable institutions for the poor. By his alms he relieved the needy, and often visited the sick, for whom he not only provided at his own cost, but waited on them with his own hands with such things as they wanted. He wore a plain dress and constantly chastised his body with hair-cloth and fasting. He crossed the sea to make war again upon the Saracens. His camp was pitched in sight of the enemy, but he was seized with pestilence, and died uttering the words : I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name. His body was afterwards carried to Paris, and it is kept and honoured in the famous Abbey Church of St. Denis, but his head in the oratory called La Sainte Chapelle. He was renowned for miracles, and Pope Boniface VIII enrolled his name among those of the Saints.

Louis IX, King of France, was brought up under the most holy care of his mother Blanche. To regain possession of Jerusalem, he crossed the sea with a great army and put the Saracens to flight in the first battle. But, when a great many of his soldiers had perished in the plague, he was defeated and taken captive. Upon conclusion of a treaty, he was set free. He redeemed many Christians in the East from enslavement to the barbarians, and also converted many infidels to the faith of Christ. Returning to France, he built many monasteries and hospitals for the poor. He helped the needy by his beneficence, and he often visited the sick and served them himself. He wore plain clothing and constantly afflicted his body by wearing a hair shirt and by fasting. When he had crossed the sea again to make war against the Saracens and had pitched camp within sight of them, he died of the plague, saying this prayer : I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name. ~ Roman Breviary

St. Louis' letter of advice to advice his eldest son, the later PhilipIII provides us with some insight into the attitudes of one of the most important French kings of the period. There has been some questions about its authorship. Even if not by the hand of Louis IX, it does reflect a mindset which, despite the pieties of the language, puts forth some real concept of kingship - with regard to justice, administration, the various classes, towns and the Church.

1. To his dear first-born son, Philip, greeting, and his father's love.

2. Dear son, since I desire with all my heart that you be well "instructed in all things, it is in my thought to give you some advice this writing. For I have heard you say, several times, that you remember my words better than those of any one else.

3. Therefore, dear son, the first thing I advise is that you fix your whole heart upon God, and love Him with all your strength, for without this no one can be saved or be of any worth.

4- You should, with all your strength, shun everything which you believe to be displeasing to Him. And you ought especially to be resolved not to commit mortal sin, no matter what may happen and should permit all your limbs to be hewn off, and suffer every manner of torment , rather than fall knowingly into mortal sin.

5. If our Lord send you any adversity, whether illness or other in good patience, and thank Him for it, thing, you should receive it in good patience and be thankful for it, for you ought to believe that He will cause everthing to turn out for your good; and likewise you should think that you have well merited it, and more also, should He will it, because you have loved Him but little, and served Him but little, and have done many things contrary to His will.

6. If our Lord send you any prosperity, either health of body or other thing you ought to thank Him humbly for it, and you ought to be careful that you are not the worse for it, either through pride or anything else, for it is a very great sin to fight against our Lord with His gifts.

7. Dear son, I advise you that you accustom yourself to frequent confession, and that you choose always, as your confessors, men who are upright and sufficiently learned, and who can teach you what you should do and what you should avoid. You should so carry yourself that your confessors and other friends may dare confidently to reprove you and show you your faults.

8. Dear son, I advise you that you listen willingly and devoutly the services of Holy Church, and, when you are in church, avoid to frivolity and trifling, and do not look here and there; but pray to God with lips and heart alike, while entertaining sweet thoughts about Him, and especially at the mass, when the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ are consecrated, and for a little time before.

9. Dear son, have a tender pitiful heart for the poor, and for all those whom you believe to be in misery of heart or body, and, according to your ability, comfort and aid them with some alms.

10. Maintain the good customs of your realm, and put down the bad ones. Do not oppress your people and do not burden them with tolls or tailles, except under very great necessity.

11. If you have any unrest of heart, of such a nature that it may be told, tell it to your confessor, or to some upright man who can keep your secret; you will be able to carry more easily the thought of your heart.

12. See to it that those of your household are upright and loyal, and remember the Scripture, which says: "Elige viros timentes Deum in quibus sit justicia et qui oderint avariciam"; that is to say, "Love those who serve God and who render strict justice and hate covetousness"; and you will profit, and will govern your kingdom well.

13. Dear son, see to it that all your associates are upright, whether clerics or laymen, and have frequent good converse with them; and flee the society of the bad. And listen willingly to the word of God, both in open and in secret; and purchase freely prayers and pardons.

14. Love all good, and hate all evil, in whomsoever it may be.

15. Let no one be so bold as to say, in your presence, words which attract and lead to sin, and do not permit words of detraction to be spoken of another behind his back.

16. Suffer it not that any ill be spoken of God or His saints in your presence, without taking prompt vengeance. But if the offender be a clerk or so great a person that you ought not to try him, report the matter to him who is entitled to judge it.

17. Dear son, give thanks to God often for all the good things He has done for you, so that you may be worthy to receive more, in such a manner that if it please the Lord that you come to the burden and honor of governing the kingdom, you may be worthy to receive the sacred unction wherewith the kings of France are consecrated.

18. Dear son, if you come to the throne, strive to have that which befits a king, that is to say, that in justice and rectitude you hold yourself steadfast and loyal toward your subjects and your vassals, without turning either to the right or to the left, but always straight, whatever may happen. And if a poor man have a quarrel with a rich man, sustain the poor rather than the rich, until the truth is made clear, and when you know the truth, do justice to them.

19. If any one have entered into a suit against you (for any injury or wrong which he may believe that you have done to him), be always for him and against yourself in the presence of your council, without showing that you think much of your case (until the truth be made known concerning it); for those of your council might be backward in speaking against you, and this you should not wish; and command your judges that you be not in any way upheld more than any others, for thus will your councillors judge more boldly according to right and truth.

20. If you have anything belonging to another, either of yourself or through your predecessors, if the matter is certain, give it up without delay, however great it may be, either in land or money or otherwise. If the matter is doubtful, have it inquired into by wise men, promptly and diligently. And if the affair is so obscure that you cannot know the truth, make such a settlement, by the counsel of s of upright men, that your soul, and the soul your predecessors, may be wholly freed from the affair. And even if you hear some one say that your predecessors made restitution, make diligent inquiry to learn if anything remains to be restored; and if you find that such is the case, cause it to be delivered over at once, for the liberation of your soul and the souls of your predecessors.

21. You should seek earnestly how your vassals and your subjects may live in peace and rectitude beneath your sway; likewise, the good towns and the good cities of your kingdom. And preserve them in the estate and the liberty in which your predecessors kept them, redress it, and if there be anything to amend, amend and preserve their favor and their love. For it is by the strength and the riches of your good cities and your good towns that the native and the foreigner, especially your peers and your barons, are deterred from doing ill to you. I will remember that Paris and the good towns of my kingdom aided me against the barons, when I was newly crowned.

22. Honor and love all the people of Holy Church, and be careful that no violence be done to them, and that their gifts and alms, which your predecessors have bestowed upon them, be not taken away or diminished. And I wish here to tell you what is related concerning King Philip, my ancestor, as one of his council, who said he heard it, told it to me. The king, one day, was with his privy council, and he was there who told me these words. And one of the king's councillors said to him how much wrong and loss he suffered from those of Holy Church, in that they took away his rights and lessened the jurisdiction of his court; and they marveled greatly how he endured it. And the good king answered: "I am quite certain that they do me much wrong, but when I consider the goodnesses and kindnesses which God has done me, I had rather that my rights should go, than have a contention or awaken a quarrel with Holy Church." And this I tell to you that you may not lightly believe anything against the people of Holy Church; so love them and honor them and watch over them that they may in peace do the service of our Lord.

23. Moreover, I advise you to love dearly the clergy, and, so far as you are able, do good to them in their necessities, and likewise love those by whom God is most honored and served, and by whom the Faith is preached and exalted.

24. Dear son, I advise that you love and reverence your father and your mother, willingly remember and keep their commandments, and be inclined to believe their good counsels.

25. Love your brothers, and always wish their well-being and their good advancement, and also be to them in the place of a father, to instruct them in all good. But be watchful lest, for the love which you bear to one, you turn aside from right doing, and do to the others that which is not meet.

26. Dear son, I advise you to bestow the benefices of Holy Church which you have to give, upon good persons, of good and clean life, and that you bestow them with the high counsel of upright men. And I am of the opinion that it is preferable to give them to those who hold nothing of Holy Church, rather than to others. For, if you inquire diligently, you will find enough of those who have nothing who will use wisely that entrusted to them.

27. Dear son, I advise you that you try with all your strength to avoid warring against any Christian man, unless he have done you too much ill. And if wrong be done you, try several ways to see if you can find how you can secure your rights, before you make war; and act thus in order to avoid the sins which are committed in warfare.

28. And if it fall out that it is needful that you should make war (either because some one of your vassals has failed to plead his case in your court, or because he has done wrong to some church or to some poor person, or to any other person whatsoever, and is unwilling to make amends out of regard for you, or for any other reasonable cause), whatever the reason for which it is necessary for you to make war, give diligent command that the poor folk who have done no wrong or crime be protected from damage to their vines, either through fire or otherwise, for it were more fitting that you should constrain the wrongdoer by taking his own property (either towns or castles, by force of siege), than that you should devastate the property of poor people. And be careful not to start the war before you have good counsel that the cause is most reasonable, and before you have summoned the offender to make amends, and have waited as long as you should. And if he ask mercy, you ought to pardon him, and accept his amende, so that God may be pleased with you.

29. Dear son, I advise you to appease wars and contentions, whether they be yours or those of your subjects, just as quickly as may be, for it is a thing most pleasing to our Lord. And Monsignore Martin gave us a very great example of this. For, one time, when our Lord made it known to him that he was about to die, he set out to make peace between certain clerks of his archbishopric, and he was of the opinion that in so doing he was giving a good end to life.

30. Seek diligently, most sweet son, to have good baillis and good prevots in your land, and inquire frequently concerning their doings, and how they conduct themselves, and if they administer justice well, and do no wrong to any one, nor anything which they ought not do. Inquire more often concerning those of your household if they be too covetous or too arrogant; for it is natural that the members should seek to imitate their chief; that is, when the master is wise and well-behaved, all those of his household follow his example and prefer it. For however much you ought to hate evil in others, you shoud have more hatred for the evil which comes from those who derive their power from you, than you bear to the evil of others; and the more ought you to be on your guard and prevent this from happening.

31. Dear son, I advise you always to be devoted to the Church of Rome, and to the sovereign pontiff, our father, and to bear him the the reverence and honor which you owe to your spiritual father.

32. Dear son, freely give power to persons of good character, who know how to use it well, and strive to have wickednesses expelled from your land, that is to say, nasty oaths, and everything said or done against God or our Lady or the saints. In a wise and proper manner put a stop, in your land, to bodily sins, dicing, taverns, and other sins. Put down heresy so far as you can, and hold in especial abhorrence Jews, and all sorts of people who are hostile to the Faith, so that your land may be well purged of them, in such manner as, by the sage counsel of good people, may appear to you advisable.

33. Further the right with all your strength. Moreover I admonish you that you strive most earnestly to show your gratitude for the benefits which our Lord has bestowed upon you, and that you may know how to give Him thanks therefore

35. Finally, most sweet son, I conjure and require you that, if it please our Lord that I should die before you, you have my soul succored with masses and orisons, and that you send through the congregations of the kingdom of France, and demand their prayers for my soul, and that you grant me a special and full part in all the good deeds which you perform.

36. In conclusion, dear son, I give you all the blessings which a good and tender father can give to a son, and I pray our Lord Jesus Christ, by His mercy, by the prayers and merits of His blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary, and of angels and archangels and of all the saints, to guard and protect you from doing anything contrary to His will, and to give you grace to do it always, so that He may be honored and served by you. And this may He do to me as to you, by His great bounty, so that after this mortal life we may be able to be together with Him in the eternal life, and see Him, love Him, and praise Him without end. Amen. And glory, honor, and praise be to Him who is one God with the Father and the Holy Spirit; without beginning and without end. Amen.
